casa delorenzo {queen of pillows}

i know i have mentioned here and there on my blog that i have no interest in commercial work…but somehow it has been sneaking in.
and honestly, it’s not that i don’t want to, it’s just that i never really thought it was possible to work on what i’d like to work on.
but, somehow, so far, the projects that have come my way have been the kinds of creative commercial jobs that i daydream about.
i’m not going to question the why’s and how’s too much, i’m just going to say thank you. i’m very very lucky and very very grateful.

so, when tina of casa delorenzo {aka, the queen of pillows} saw a comment on one of my blogs about not really wanting to do commercial
work unless it was for like…abc carpet and home, anthropologie (and who wouldn’t) among others…she contacted me about photographing
her pillows for her new website that is being totally updated. in the meantime, her etsy site is here.
she was looking to expand her market to a younger, hipper market without losing her established clients and core branding.
tina is an amazing artist herself running her interior design business in the arts district of oakley for the past 6 years after working as
a designer at closson’s downtown for 10 years. she specializes in the most amazing finely crafted custom pillows anywhere.
really, they need to be carried at abc carpet and home! you’ll want them in your home! walking into her friendly and stylish showroom and
viewing the incredible selections of fabrics and trims she has collected and beautifully displayed is eye candy for any creative soul.
you’ll never think of pillows the same way again.

when completed, here’s a peak of some of the eye candy pillow goodness you can expect to see on her new website.

and, how could i resist a little sumthing sumthing while we were there.
nora’s feather duster, love it!
& gabriella of course!

mark’s amazing reconstructed martin bird house.
& gabriella of course!

some notes.
collaboration is a good thing in my book.

if you follow my blog, yes, you do, in fact, recognize the location of our shoot….does tuscantucky ring a bell?
thank you mark and heather for opening up your incredible home to us;) simply breathtaking.

thank you gabriella and sophia for being beautiful additions to our set, taking care of
monte and matteo and always having smiles on your faces.

thank you tina for trusting me with your pillows, giving me the total creative freedom to do my art
and portray your work in the new direction you want to go.
your support has been endless.

i was also lucky enough to have a wonderfully talented set stylist join this project who
came ready to be open, creative and work as a team. nora martini and i have worked together for years
in the print/film world… she as a set stylist and me as a make up artist. this was our first project together as set stylist and photographer.
i couldn’t have asked for more.

Mary - Gina you are so talented; I hope that this spread brings you lots of work – commercial and private.
I want to have you take a portrait of me at Heather’s Tuscantucky home propped up by Tina’s pillows as I eat a tray of delights from Bonbonerie. My gosh, how about that…there’s a whole new income source for you: Ecstasy Portraits. Kudos to all!

jamie - Tina’s pillows are gorgeous. Absolutely love the settings used to photograph the pillows. Your photography is a work of art. Amazing how you can create so many feelings while photographing mostly objects instead of people.

cathy simon - I own a few Casa DeLorenzo pillows and they are works of art just like the beautiful photographs show – like little oil paintings sitting on your chair, bench or sofa. Absolutely gorgeous!
