deanna {be beautiful}

a little while back i gave a peak of deanna’s session. tom(the other half) and deanna are dear friends of ours, actually,  they’re more like family,
you know what i mean.
so while deanna was in town visiting, we fit in a session all for her. a be beautiful session. i especially love doing these because i ‘know’ we all ‘want’
to have our pictures taken where we feel beautiful, free, and fun. no worries about all the things we worry about when getting our pictures taken and
we girls know exactly what i’m talking about!
do it! just kick back and be comfortable with who you are because you are b.e.a.u.t.i.f.u.l.
so here is beautiful, free, funny, sweet and one smart cookie….ms deanna.

deanna - you are very talented as a lifestyle photographer and excellent at telling a story about every photo…it is so obvious you are truly doing what you love, it shows in every photograph
thank you so much for a fun day with no worries!

{news break} kiwi street’s….studio!

oh! i am sooooo bad, i’ve been holding back some omg exciting news! before we left on vacation at the beginning of july, i did it! kiwi street studios now actually has a ‘studio!’ i am beeeside myself!
i truly did not intend to have one, but i admit i have been secretly looking…and then it just…happened. what can i say.
ok. true, it’s really teeny tiny, but full of character. true, my signs are not up yet. true, you have to go through an iron gate, down the most charming bricked, grape and twinkling lighted alley to get to it. true, i can work on my computer, meet with friends or clients, sip tea or better yet, wine, under the grape trellis complete with hanging candelabra and bistro chairs (still looking for the perfect table.) true, right now it’s got turquoise painted wooden floors. true, it’s immersed in with other artists and cool shop owners in oakley’s oh so hot (and getting hotter) art district. true, it’s in walking distance to soooo many great shooting areas that it hurts. true, it’s only 60 or so feet from my own front door. true, it’s ‘my’ own space, my girlie playhouse.  so…can you really blame me!
now the real fun has begun. the design of the space. of course i’ve added things i love, but i’ve been sitting in it, staring at it from all angles, all hours of the day and night trying to get my feel for it before i really ‘do’ anything to it. i’ll take you along on the journey of now and where we end up.
so, for now, little snippets of kiwi street’s studio;)

old world glamour, hippie-esque, modern edginess, and quiet beauty.
range is a very good thing for an actress to be.
i can’t wait to see her star rise.

Annie - Gorgeous shots!!!

i know that i should be working on all the things that i need to be working on and getting out….
but isn’t life all about stopping when something
really good is given to you?  no matter what ‘has’ to be done? i haven’t visited this self imposed project for…yeah, quite some time now.
why did i have more time, so it seamed, to work on my art projects, before?
does it just really seam that way or once we get ‘busy’ we just forget it’s there waiting for us to visit,
spend some time with.
sometimes we just need a nudge.
while i was shooting a session last week, this wonderful ~in a sad way~ man nudged.
he sauntered right into our session and sang,
gently performed, recited lyrics and quietly pleaded us for just a ‘little’ of our attention and time.
how happy i was to give him that. and in return, he gave me a kiss on my hand.
and a reminder to take time to stop in the middle of
our all so important and deadline filled days to smile and laugh
and feel good about the moment that is presented right now.
to give others the simplest of necessities, time . attention . humanness . acceptance . a little love… people.
funny, at the time we were so entertained by this man that after looking over the images later,
i couldn’t help but visualize him as a sad clown in a traveling circus. can you see it?
i’ve never liked clowns, but i like this one.

my sweet sad clown

Deborah Carr - He has such a peaceful face. I’m so glad he ‘nudged’ you and that you shared a bit of him with us.
