model portfolios . nancy {the rest}

i don’t know if it’s the name of my studio, or what…but i get the best emails from people asking me about sessions! as life is an ongoing trial and error game, i’ll take this as a thumbs up.
nancy was one and she has not failed to live up to her persona in person either. at all.  a fellow artist who has her hand in many things…check out this and this and even a program she is developing to completely empower women.  pretty impressive she is.
we had a fun day filled with talking, laughing, pushing the envelope and coming back to reality. these pictures are for yet another adventure as she embarks on an acting/modeling career right here in our home town. having been a model in the big apple at the little age of 12, i’d say….she hasn’t lost a step! just now, more beautiful, confident, grounded, stronger and possibly even taller!
maybe, just maybe, in this little market of ours, there IS a call for a tall, beautiful, strong, artistic and fashionable you – in addition to selling the requisite fridge and paper towels, of course.
thank you miss nancy fancy pants.
xoxo.

fresh and clean.
we shot these in nancy’s home studio complete with bird nests!
btw…her artwork, her love seat, tables, chairs….lucky me.

nancy illman - ummm…..genius?

the only problem I am having with all of this is that half my family got left out of the shoot, so we will need to get together again soon! you are something else, Miss G…xoxo

a little {indulgence}

nancy hired me to shoot photos for her comp card.  we did. we had lots of fun and i’ll be posting them soon.
but. while we were shooting the requisites…we may have veered off course a teeny little bit.  i didn’t hear anyone complaining.
in fact, together, i’m afraid we could get into some big T.
so…talk about chance locations. i passed this barn like structure on my way to nancy’s. this gorgeous building sits on property belonging to a convent.  it is being gutted and redone into…something.
personally, it could not have been more perfect than it was this day.
the fact that nancy and i just waltzed across the lawn (well, nancy waltzed in her flowing crimson very low cut gown with doc martens…uh hum!)
and let ourselves in AND casually asked for help from the worker’s there…with NO resistance…meant it was gonna be good.
we did look over our shoulders once or twice for  ‘mother theresa’ … but, alas, no nuns and no trouble. just some creative diva fun. here’s just a few from our little excursion.

lisa and allison {the rest}

the word ‘spirited’ kept coming to my mind as i processed this session.  image after image just screamed this at me and i couldn’t help but smile, giggle and have a warm feeling inside as i relived the afternoon with lisa and allsion.  the ties between this mother/daughter was so evident in the smallest of gestures to the all out laughter that made up our time together…
of which i completely and thoroughly enjoyed every . single . moment . of.
lisa, i knew i would love you from your very first email to me, but little did i know the extent of…your closet!!! (calling all stylists…i have a secret!)
seriously though, your authenticity and heart shines and i can so see why allsion is the grounded, intelligent and beautiful (both inside and out) woman that she is.
i hope that when you both look back at the images from your day together, you will always see the love, fun and friendship that was so obvious to me.

i had mentioned that this farm belonged to a childhood friend of lisa’s, nita, who had come back home to help care for her ailing mother. i was privileged to get a short glance into the lives of
lisa’s friends that day… the ease, love and comfort that only comes from lifetimes shared with one another was everywhere.
sadly, nita’s mother passed away the monday following our session there on her family farm. now, when i look at these images, i can sense her spirit in each and every inch of the photographs,
just adding to the amazing shining energy already present.
thank you for letting us adding more memories to this life.

lisabisa - Gina:

The “petal thingie” that you loved the shape of is the hay holder for the cows turned on it’s side. So if you ever see another one, you’ll be able to say “I know what that is!” … and I’m so glad you could share the farm with us and meet Nita. 🙂

Alli said to tell you she “loves loves loves” the pics!
