rosettes

anyone who knows me knows that i have an insatiable desire to make things
and then make those things look…well…pretty.
i did this daily when i owned a shabby chic meets village meets metropolitan home retail store called the french gate some years back. anything with interesting bones, lines
or just caught my eye was recycled and embellished into something new.
these past few years i put my sewing machine, sketch/idea book aside to make room for my photography business.
a couple weeks back when lexi asked to borrow my sewing machine (for this)…
i was so inspired to do something creative. so i did.
rosettes. and rosettes seam to be the ‘it’ thing lately as far as a favorite photo hair accessory.
no wonder, they are fun, colorful, sassy, sweet…and pretty simple to make.
i used to make them in all kinds of ways for my business…mostly for the home.
when i made these first few, my intention was to use them in the brown tulle veil for the hydrangea et tulle
session i shot last week. on my way to the studio,
i chose to use the very dead hydrangeas instead.

so now what to do with the rosettes i made? and what about the others that i have since made? i thought of a few things..

these would make sweet pins to add to a market bag, a sweater, a belt, a bulletin board, hang a picture from…
and, yes, of course, something pretty for your hair.

i added some to clipboards that i covered with coordinating fabrics.

some of them are embellishing the window treatments hanging in the studio.
next up, the burlap covered hanging lampshades in the window will be wearing one or two.

so many possibilities for prettiness.
