the {doing}

visited one of my favorite blogs tonight…hula seventy…and read this:
“but the biggest mistake I made is the one that most of us make while doing this. I did not live in the moment enough.
this is particularly clear now that the moment is gone, captured only in photographs.
there is one picture of the three of them sitting in the grass on a quilt in the shadow
of the swing set on a summer day, ages 6, 4 and 1. and I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about,
and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night.
I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book, bed.
I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less.”

hmm. why does this make me stand so still right now.
because as much as i try and try and try to remember to live in the moment,
i, too, get lost in the rushing.
i will try harder.

shannon sewell - thank you for the reminder… ๐Ÿ™‚

print swap {goodness}

i had never attended nor had ever even heard of this before last year when my friend
(and fabulous photographer) brian, ‘b’ for short, sent out an invite to attend a print swap.
what an amazingly cool idea. bring three pieces of your own artwork, come to an uber cool venue,
hang your three pieces up on the wall, mingle with uber cool artists and then take turns going up
and choosing someone else’s amazing artwork you’d like to take home with you. free.
really. isn’t that pretty great.

so, why am i telling you this a year later?
because it’s happening again and if you have some artwork to share, you, too, are invited.

when: friday . november 19th . 4-7pm
where: at intrinzic . newport on the levee

bring your art out and share!

my daughter {lexivornberg.com} put this little creative outing together as a test session for her portfolio.
she picked the location, did all the styling and thought jordan, who-if you can believe it- is not a model,
would be perfect for this.
she was so sweet and so natural and took direction like a pro.
i drove out to bring a few little things to the shoot and ended up staying.
how sweet of my daughter to let me snap a few since i was there.
{how could i not…both the light and jordan were amazing}
since this was essentially a ‘test’,ย  i had fun shooting with no agenda.
i’ve been loving the beauty of blur lately. i actually have an entire folder filled with purposefully blurred
images from my shoots that i will do something with one of these days.
this session is also a great example of how two people can look at the same things but have
their own interpretations and styles.
you can see some of what alex shot on her blog and see her take on the afternoon.
so beautiful alex. bravo.
thanks again for letting your mama tag along.

i’ve been playing around with putting magazine type publications together.
here is one from the afternoon.
